In art this term we have created ethereal jellyfish pictures. There were three elements involved: painting, practising drawing jellyfish and flicking white poster paint to create bubbles. See the process below.
We really enjoyed our topic about adventures and explorers through time. Although we are moving on to a new topic this term, we have created a permanent display in our classroom to remember that we are all explorers and can have our own adventures!
We are consolidating our place value knowledge by playing a few games this week. We used packs of cards to create the biggest possible total, adding two 3 digit numbers. How was it best to swap them round to ensure we got the biggest total? Then we tried 5 and 6 digit numbers. We are getting much more confident reading longer numbers now :) Photos to follow... We're really enjoying learning about how journeys how changed over time. We've learnt about Captain Cook, climbing Everest and now even a little bit about space travel! We're also looking at how journeys can be portrayed in art and have studied paintings by Peter Thorpe. He designs book covers, prints and particularly enjoys painting pictures of rockets. We loved his use of bright colour so decided to try and mimic his style.
Photos to follow! On Tuesday, some of the class (along with Swans, Miss Dicks and Mrs Shannon) were lucky enough to attend a rugby festival, celebrating the beginning of the Rugby World Cup.
